I saw a Ferrari F12 at the new car show. a car that costs $312,000 and the paint was super orange peeled.

If I am spending that kinda money the bastards could at least polish the paint out all smooth like.

apparently its pretty common.

Thats all i really have to say.

TLDR=crappy non polished paint on brand new car no matter how cheap is stupid lazy and shameful unless its like a tata nano or mitsubishi mirage.

A guy I worked with over the summer has been doing body work for the last 20-30 years and he said the hardest part about doing paint work on newer cars is matching the crappiness of the paint job. We had a brand new Maserati that someone backed into in a parking lot, and he had to repaint the rear bumper. His exact words were "this is going to be fucking impossible."

Bentley and Rolls Royce are the only ones I know of who actually polish the paint by hand. But yeah any car for that kinda price should be wet sanded and polished until the paint is completely "flat," ie. smooth as possible.

this was my old Saab. I only washed and waxed it regularly. Never saw these fancy polishers etc.

Saab knew how to lay good paint.
